Budapest is an exciting place to be for various reasons! One of these is its coffee-houses! Some are breathtaking venues evoking the glamour of the end of the 1800’s, some tell us about the contemporary gastro revolution. These latter ones- our specialty coffee houses- offer extremely high quality products apart from being just as carefully designed places, as the historical cafés but reflecting the latest trends also visually. On this tour apart from tasting excellent coffee and pastry you get a glimpse into contemporary interior and urban design in Budapest.

We start out from Budapest’s centre, at a short walk from the picturesque Danube Promenade in a café that was pioneer of new wave coffee in Budapest. It was among the firsts to offer coffee prepared in alternative ways, from fresh, lightly roasted beans, sourced from local and international roasters. Since then it has become a favourite of many coffee enthusiasts both locals, including me who always has a nice brew or flat white when in the city centre. The vaulted, cellar-like interior is dotted with interesting details, black industrial-style lighting, natural wood furnishing.
From here we take a very pleasant tram ride along the river, that will give you the chance to admire the main sights both on the Buda and the Pest side, like the Castle Hill, Chain Bridge, Grasham Palace, Gellért Hill and the Main Market Hall.
We restart our walk at the latter, in the Ninth District, that used to be called the „stomach of Budapest“ in the 1800’s for this is where the goods used to arrive on the river and were strored in the various warehouses. We visit a specialty café in a very impressive bulding (former warehouse) that is a successful blend of recent and ancient arcitecture. The café that is in a cultural, entertaining and shopping center provides a potpourri of specialty coffee, premium sound systems, and custom-built motorcycles.
A must do of this tour is a stroll in the Palace or the Eightth District of the city where we hop into our next destination, a coffe house with a thoughtful interior design featuring concrete and wood combinations on the site of a former tobacco pipe factory. This place is more than your average neighborhood café. It's the patrons, artists and neighborhood bohemians, who give a soul to the space.
By the end of the tour you will be full of interesting stories about general history and the story of coffeemaking, you have seen wonderful parts of the city including main sights and ‚off the beaten path‘ places and you have tasted quality coffee and pastry.
For those who do not want to drink 3 coffees there is possibility to take a soft drink, a glass of wine or a glass of beer instead.
We willl discover MY CITY YOUR WAY!
